Night Gallery VI

Drop Off of work by members and non-members: October 22, 23, 24

October 30 - 7:00pm - Midnite ~ Night Gallery Party & Fundraiser

This year our theme is Murder, Mayhem and the Missing Masterpieces.

Artists may enter 1 piece per category, with a maximum total of 4 pieces in the show. Our $20 entry covers all pieces and includes admission to the Night Gallery Party on Oct. 30.

Don’t forget that you could win one of the $100 awards or special prizes given that night! Winners will be voted on by those attending the Night Gallery Party.

This year’s categories are:

  1. Fakes & Forgeries - Let us see your best Picasso, Van Gogh or Rembrandt, etc. You can copy an existing painting or do one of your own in the artist’s style. Sign it with the artist’s name and we’ll have a great forgery!
  2. Twisted - Interpret any way you like. It could be subject matter that you think is a bit twisted or something actually twisting (how about a tornado)!
  3. Crime & Punishment - Whatever you think is a crime or a punishment is O.K. for this one. Perhaps you think it’s a crime to tear down a historical building to build something new. Or you could paint a prison, police officer, judge, lawyer, etc. You could even do an abstract piece with fingerprints and bits of evidence.

  • Special Category: Notorious Notions - Create an assemblage using various found objects and putting them together, in either a sculptural piece or to hang on the wall. You can have a lot of fun with this one. An example would be to take an old suitcase and fill it with mannequin pieces or take an old canvas and stick creepy crawly (fake) bugs all over it. Use your imagination, and whatever you can find around the house.

Non-member friends are invited to enter, it’s open to everyone 21 years or older. Work should not be larger than 55” in any direction. Framed and works on canvas should be wired for hanging. Unframed works should be matted and covered with plastic, they will be displayed in a print rack unless they have a secure hanger on the back.

Exhibition Opportunities

The Exhibition Committee has started work on our 2011 Exhibition Schedule. Members interested in solo or four to five artist exhibits in our galleries should call Carol at the LCAA office 687-7061. Space is limited, deadline is August 1st.

We are looking for artists to display their work at Homestead Village in August or September of this year. This is a great location and your work will be seen by many of their residents. Call Carol at the LCAA office for more details.

Homestead Village will feature a number of works by various artists from the LCAA’s collections for the month of July.

The exhibits at Homestead Village are located in the main building. Homestead Village is one quarter mile east of Rohrerstown off of Route 23. Turn right at the United Church of the Apostles. The address of the main building is 1800 Village Circle, Rohrerstown, PA.

The exhibit is open for visitors throughout the day and evening, as long as the main building is open and if there are no Village activities scheduled in that room.
