Volunteers

Needed:

  • Newspaper clipper: To clip articles about the LCAA for our archives. Press releases are sent out weekly to many publications. If an article is published somewhere and sent to us, then we know for sure that they are appearing. You don't have to be an "Official Newspaper Clipper". We would be delighted if anyone, official or not, sent in clippings that they spot about the LCAA in newspapers.
  • Grant Writers: To find grants and write grant proposals for the LCAA.
  • Juried Show Committee: To help Carol Herr with the annual Juried Show. Work would involve assistance in accepting artwork for the show and other related duties. Call Carol at 284-4845.
  • A Technology & Writing Assistant: Help needed with press releases, flyer design, ad design, and assistance to our office staff with using computers and software on a daily basis. Proficiency with Apple computers and software including Adobe Creative Suite CS2 helpful.

Open Call for Lancaster and nearby Area Artists

Exhibit title: Not your Mother’s Barn!

Exhibit Place: Mulberry Art Studios
21 N Mulberry Street
Lancaster PA 17603

Exhibit Dates: June 5-28, 2008
Reception Date: First Friday June 6th 5-8pm

Wall art of any medium referencing a barn is welcome-whether traditional, humorous, contemporary, abstracted or your special version. The barn theme unites the rural nature of Lancaster and the Barnstormers baseball team.

The curators of this show decided to be pro active and cull a selection of Lancaster County (and nearby) art to aid the Lancaster Convention Center (LCC) art search. The art should be presentable for guest room walls in the hotel/convention center. There is no promise that any art will be selected. The goal of this grass roots effort is to show the exceptional home grown artistic talent surrounding the LCC. Phrases like “sustainability within communities” are buzzing around. Let’s make it happen in the Lancaster visual art sector, too.

Entries. Size unrestricted, but must fit through standard door opening. All pieces must be wired suitable for hanging. No media restrictions other than no sharp edges.

Fee: $5.00 per piece paid upon delivery. (Money used to fund the reception.)

Deadline to confirm your participation (for publicity purposes only): February 1, 2008
However, participation is still open after that, up to delivery dates.

Delivery dates: May 31 and June 2 from10-11:30am
Hand delivery and pick up only, no shipping. Attach hang tag to art that includes artist’s name, title, dimensions, medium and retail price that allows 35% commission to Mulberry Art Studios.
