The Pink Flamingos

Holiday Workshops

Handbuilding Clay Ornaments
and More

Enjoy making holiday (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.) handmade ornaments and/or ceramic objects for yourself or others and learn about working in clay. We’ll guide through creation, texturizing, painting, glazing, etc. You can make multiples or one -of-a-kind. You can personalize.

All levels, Adult & Teen. There is a $20 materials fee for clay, glazes and firing which is paid to the instructors the first class. Students may also bring any supplies of their own, including shape makers like cookie cutters or molds, stamps, stencils and brushes. Aprons, old clothes suggested.

Creating a Customized Greeting Card
for the Holiday Season

In this workshop we will be preparing a painting that can be used to print personal greeting cards or notecards that will be unique to you and that you can be proud to share with family and friends during the holiday season and throughout the year. Karen will share tips on how to keep the printing process economical and professional.

You may bring ideas or possible sketches to the workshop to expedite your painting, but the instructor will also have options to choose from. Students will do a small value sketch then proceed to a painting or drawing. 11x15 is a good workable size and facilitates a good design for printing. Any medium that works on paper is fine.

All levels. Adult & Teen. Supplies needed: Basic watercolor supplies & 11x15 sheets of arches paper. If you prefer to work in another medium, bring the supplies that faciliate that medium.

In this one day workshop you will learn easy techniques of this famous illustrator to create a memorable painting that reflects your vision of Christmas.

This workshop is for intermediate and advanced students, adult or teen. Supplies needed: Pencil and eraser. Instructor will bring other supplies needed.

Miniatures for the Holiday

Are you looking for a unique and personal gift for the holiday? Miniature paintings can make a wonderful present or you can decorate your own home with them. This workshop for oil or acrylic painters will give useful tips on painting small. You may paint any subject, it doesn’t have to be a holiday scene. The instructor will bring some reference materials, but you may work from your own.

This workshop is for all levels, Adult or Teen. Supplies needed: several small miniature canvases (5x7 or smaller) or canvas paper, your regular painting supplies, various brushes including several small sable brushes #1, #0, pencil and eraser, drawing paper.
